I'm happy to report that I'm back into a size 10 and my pre twins weight but the dresses I would love to wear are at least $300 or $400 (and retro daddy isn't going to let that happen as we recover from all the expenses of our new house) so I remembered this lovely piece of fabric in my stash and thought it could possibly be turned into a dress! So my question is what would you do to make this a dress for a summer wedding starting at 5pm at a yacht club with a black and silver theme.
I'm thinking of making a black cotton slip to go under it that is a few inches shorter to show off the detail on the overlay with a cute fabric belt tied in a bow on the side.....would you do that? would you add straps? what would you do????? heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!!!

Here's what I would do: I would get Keira and her iceblock away from that fabric quick smart - its gorgeous!
Oh, most definitely! That is the perfect fabric for a dress for a 5pm yacht club wedding!
I would tie a simple black satin ribbon around the waist. And put straps on it, maybe 1.5 inch side satin ribbon crossed over at the back (to stop the slipping if you are wearing a strapless bra) or else a complementary charcoal fabric as straight simple straps.
Have fun with it! You can do a lor of auditioning with black ribbon
I would make a waist belt, either with satin or some other contrasting fabric, to give it some shape. I would go to Spotlight (if you have time) and buy some of their pretty lace trim, they have some that is more crochet than lace and i think it would match this fabric. I would use this to make pretty straps on the dress. Teamed with some killer heels and your hair done i think it will be beautiful!!
And well done on getting back to your old size!!
My first thoughts were with Peta, get that fabric AWAY from the ice block!
And I think the girls have the best idea, tie waist with satin sash, but I think strapless could be good on a tiny frame (grrrr LOL). Have you any old jet beads? I think it would give some 20's glamour to it, or a bead clutch purse...lovely. Whatever you do I just know you will look gorgeous.
