Raspberry Rings
1 1/2 cups sifted plain flour
1tsp baking powder (recipe says 1/2 tsp bicarb 1tsp cream of tartar)
1/2 cup sugar
2Tbsp butter
1 egg beaten
milk
raspberry jam
Combine flour, baking powder, sugar and rub in butter. Combine egg and enough milk to make a stiff dough. Roll into flat sheet and spread with raspberry jam. Roll tightly and cut into 1cm pieces. Place on lined baking tray and bake in 180 degree oven until nicely brown. Delicious!

ReplyDeleteOOOh. Raspberry rings. Thanks for the recipe. I am going to make some tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteOur cookie jar is empty, my kids would love these too. I must try them, we have made several batches of your one cup choc chip biscuits. Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSounds yummy! Oven will be used for dinner tonight so perhaps some biscuits are in order.
ReplyDeleteI have a very, very old copy of the CWA cookbook. It's unfortunately packed away just now, but talks of clear fires, slow fires etc. It has a page of home remedies in the back. For toothache it suggests putting a threepenny piece on either side of offending tooth and letting them touch at the top. An apparent electric current will cure the tooth.
A cure for diarrhea is an absolute classic. A medicine glass of whisky or brandy mixed with some opium.
One glass of this every time needed for several hours, then a glass an hour. I reckon that after all that drugging, who would know or care what was wrong!
AArgh! That book has been packed away too long. I just realised it's the Presbyterian Women's Cookbook and is much older than seventy years.
ReplyDeleteYum, I made these today! The kids love them, thanks Corrie
ReplyDeleteThese look delicious Corrie.... will have to get Master 7 onto those! Thanks
ReplyDeletethat's a beautiful copy of the CWA cookbook you have there. I have a copy of a Bundaberg CWA cookbook that my Mum picked for me a few years back, it looks nothing like that one! I know what you mean about them though, I just love mine.
