our kitchen renovation : day 18

A big day today. Installation of the kitchen cupboards. I was so nervous about how it was going to look but it looks lovely. The twins were obsessed with checking that every, and I mean EVERY cupboard and drawer worked.

the island

hi mummy

yep it opens

checking it all works

checking cupboards

love the side panels

knobs on doors

I've realised that there isn't much room for a bulkhead so the cornices will have to be finished and a bit of painting up above the cupboards. The appliances, tiling and caesarstone should make a big difference but I'm kind of wishing I'd hidden the fridge behind a cupboard door for a bit of symmetry. But it's looking lovely and is only going to look better once it's all finished. One very happy customer. And it's not even finished.

It must be so exciting seeing it all come together. I bet you can't wait for those counter tops now.

Oh Corrie, it's just fascinating seeing it all come together so beautifully. Your knobs are prefect. You will love your Caesarstone - I adore ours. And I wouldn't worry about not having the fridge hidden away - with your 4 littlies, the door wouldn't be closed for long anyway ☺. J x

I'm taking serious note of the counter top, my husband wants Caesarstone too, only dark, i want light, hmmmm.
Talk about awesome hide & seek in an empty new kitchen!! Love Posie

Be glad your fridge is not attached to a door. The damn thing can then never be opened wide enough to remove fridge shelves. Shelves remain at whatever level the builder/ fridge installer decides they should go.... not always the best unless you intend to remove the decorative door to redo it.
Love seeing your progress. Its looking gorgeous.

Gorgeous! Are you going to have stools on the dining side of the island? We're also doing cupboards on the dining room side of our kitchen and I am trying to decide of we should have the countertop extend a bit so we can have a few stools there.... not sure yet though!

how lovely it looks! wow I'll admit I'm a little jealous, but I'm a while off a new kitchen, so I'll be content to admire!
i disagree about the fridge, if it was hidden people would constantly be opening your pantry and you would have nowhere to put invitations etc

so you have 2 kitchens now?

Having the fridge behind a cupboard door would have made the fridge to be quite smaller and you wouldn't want that with a family of 6!

Beautiful! You'll love that big island. Thanks for the comment on my blog -- your blog is beautiful and makes me want to get back into quilting (last quilts I made were for my twins, who are 7 now).
