my twinnies are 4

Once upon a time I was pregnant with Keira. And I secretly hoped that I was having twins. What a crazy lady! Who knew that later on down the track I would actually have twins. A little boy and a little girl. Born at 36 weeks and 5 days and weighing in at 2.69kgs and 2.73kgs. They were born around the same time that Dora the Explorer welcomed her little twin brother and sister and Angelina Jolie had her twins too.

the first year was the hardest! I didn't get a lot of blogging done or take a lot of photos. And the first few months were the toughest of all. All we did was try to keep them fed and settled. There were days when both would be screaming at me and all I could do was put them in their bouncers and bounce them or pick up one and bounce the other and swap them over. We didn't have any money for a nanny or help and they were long days. I used to dream about when they would be older and could feed themselves, walk to out to the car themselves and it would get easier.

And it did get easier...........they started sleeping from 7 to 7, they learnt to walk down the stairs and climb into the car, they learnt to play with each other, they didn't cry all the time, I learnt how to pick them up at once and I got to really enjoy having them.

Twins are a bit of a sideshow. I got questions, comments, stares and once an old lady pulled back the cover over the pram without asking just to get a look. And that old chestnut always came up - are they identical! I would smile sweetly and say no, you can't have identical boy/girl twins

They are chalk and cheese in every way.

Finn is a mini retro daddy in the looks department. Very easy going and a born talker. He tells me to look at him and listen to him and goes on and on..........he is bright with a photographic memory, can write his name beautifully, loves chips but hates chocolate, lollies and sweet stuff. He falls asleep anywhere and everywhere, loves lego and idolises his daddy

Tillie is spirited and sensitive. She loves a good scream and cry. She loves chocolate and the sweet stuff and hates vegetables. She loves skirts and dresses and pink. She makes friends easily and everyone wants to be her friend. She is also super active and throws herself into any exercise and is the best of all the little ones on her bike, scooter and an activity.

And while things are easier they still give us challenges like bedtime, brushing their teeth, fights, tantrums and wanting everything! But twins are special and we're lucky to have them

They are having a special day today with a trip to the movies seeing Brave, making a bear at Build a bear, picking a cupcake at the new cupcake shop and having sushi train for dinner!

So happy birthday twinnies!!!!!! So many more milestones ahead of us!
