today I start 12WBT

Well today the good times are over. I've said my goodbyes to chocolate and butter and embarked on Michelle Bridge's 12WBT program. I've been hearing lots of crafters and my readers raving about it and seen their results and on Saturday night I decided to join up. It's time to lose those 10kgs of baby weight, stop eating chocolate by the block and get back into my wardrobe. And that's my motivation - all of my lovely clothes that I can't fit into. I have a big wardrobe just waiting for me. This is my before shot - no photoshopping or avoiding a double chin. This is me. Yikes. I'm not even breathing out to make my tummy look big.

The program so far has impressed me because the exercise is so well laid out and you can choose a few options like home or outdoors or gym and it tells you exactly what to do, how many and for how long. Most other plans I've been on are a bit sketchy on the exercise but telling me exactly how many press ups and lunges to do and a video showing me how to do it. Now you're talking. There are also different levels you can exercise at which is good.  And there is lots of variety in the food plan. I've actually chosen the vegetarian menu as it's more of what I like to eat and I love that since I'm breastfeeding I get to eat more.

And this is me last October and how I want to look

the look

So let me know if you've done 12WBT, you're on it or you want to do it! I plan to share my journey here in a way to keep myself honest and motivated. One day I'll write out my huge life story with my weight - it's a long one as I lost 40kgs in my past and that might surprise some of you. It's not something I always share with people but it's a part of who I am and a reason why I'm always so focused on getting rid of the baby weight after each baby.

  1. Looking forward to hearing about your progress. Losing weight is the hardest thing in the world to do. I have just joined CrossFit - hoping that some good butt kicking exercise will be the trick for me!

  3. hi there. You are brave and honest. Good luck. I like MIchelle Bridges and the way she puts appropriate emphasis on exercise as well as eating properly. It is a trap to just focus on eating and diet. Creates a Bad Mindset. xo

  9. Corrie, 12WBT was the answer to my wedding fitness. It's highly recommended as mish tackles the mental as well as the physical. May you start seeing results in the nut so distant future. Best thing is you've gone public. Best motivation ever.

  10. I haven't done the 12wbt program but have had success from Michelle's books. I lost ten kilos just by following her face book page and books. It is hard work but oh so worth it.

I am nearly 50 and it has worked for me and I feel great. Michelle is so successful now with this program...she is helping so many regain their lives back!

    Good luck!

  11. Good luck. I'd love to be able to do the 12WBT, but my finances restrict me, but I'll be happy to watch someone else succeed at it. I have my fingers crossed for you =D

  12. Good luck on your adventure, one of the ladies at work did the last round and lost a whopping 10kgs and has signed up for another round. Two other ladies here started today as well. Some of the recipes look very yummy, the Penang Chicken is easy and very tasty.

  13. Good on you Corrie!!! You're already gorgeous, but I do understand the desire to get back down to a size you're more comfortable as. Since having my daughter 4 years ago, I have unsuccessfully "tried" to lose the extra weight ... *tried* as I've yoyo'd throughout that time more than actually loosing ... I'm very good at verbalising the goals, but not actually doing the work to achieve them. Looking forward to seeing your progress over the next 12 weeks .. and who knows, maybe it'll be the inspiration I need to get back in there to do the work!!! I personally love Jillian Michael's program ... I just need to DO it, lol!
Will be praying for His strength & courage to be upon you ... and your success!! Hugs!

  15. It's such a great program! You will love it and Yes, you WILL get results. My running buddy just finished her second round and lost about 20kg. She looks amazing. I say go for anything g you set your heart on. Your body is your temple and keep it fit and healthy for your family. I am running my first half Marathon on Sunday, something I never thought I would do but hard work and determination and I am there. You can do this. You can and you will. Xxx

  16. Done it. Dropped 10 Kilos - Fantastic program. Loved the whole connection with like minders locally. The food program is easy to follow and really lays it out and spells it out pretty basically. I would love to do another round but have other priorities at the minute. Good luck. Nothing lucky about it mind you. Follow the plan and stick to your goals/objectives. You cant go wrong. k x

  18. Corrie you've inspired me to sign up this week too! I've been getting Michelle's emails far too long now and have kept thinking "Must join, must join!" I did WW after having Sunny and lost a huge 22kgs! It's not working for me this time around and I'll give anything a go twice or more!

I'll definately be checking on your progress and honeslty you really don't look that bad to begin with :) It takes time to grow in the 9 months of pregnancy so it will take some time to shrink back! I've had issues with weight gain and loss all my life... I'm not as genetically blessed as some... I have to work for it and HARD!

As to shrinking back... I'm doing it with you! We'll be calling you Yummy Retro Mummy in no time!

  23. You know what I love most about the comments you have received? The level of support and the well wishes everyone is giving you. Goes to show that you are an intelligent woman who knows her own mind and is very clear about who she is and wants to be. What a wonderful role model to all of us (as well as those gorgeous children you have). I say this because after all, your baby is still very new, and we women can be so very hard on ourselves. That said, I completely understand, I've been there and my hat is off to you for taking this step. Good luck!

  27. Good on you Corrie. Losing baby weight is so difficult...mainly because there is no spare time to exercise. I've found it much harder losing the weight after my second than I did first time around. I did put on 23kg during that pregnancy too, which didn't help. I think you're very inspirational & look forward to following your journey xo

  30. Best wishes to you Corrie from another one who started 12WBT today! I am really interested in how you will blend your menu plans with feeding your lovely family. It is easy for me, it is either me alone or me and my partner who wants to lose a few kgs. Did you do the cajun fish stew?
